If so, Thursday would probably be a fantastic day to telework. Or take the day off.
This Thursday is Sept. 11, and to mark the anniversary of the event, the Pentagon Memorial will be dedicated. And there are a ton of street closures, beginning at 3 a.m. Thursday morning, that will be in place to provide security and access for the the invitation-only dedication of the Pentagon Memorial.
According to the Washington Post's Dr. Gridlock, "Police and Virginia traffic managers are advising commuters to avoid the area, especially between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Metrorail is a better option than driving through the zone. All stations will be open. The trains will be running on their regular schedule Thursday morning."
"Buses are a different story: All Metrobuses that normally serve the Pentagon Transit Center, the largest transfer station in the Metrobus system, will move to the Pentagon City Metro station from 2 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday."
Check out Dr. Gridlock's article for more on the traffic mess, along with a list of roads that will be shut down.
Like we said... telework sounds like a great option. Although not as great as sleeping in, enjoying a big pot of coffee after we wake up, maybe watching some mindless television shows or a movie for several hours followed by an afternoon nap before the kids get home from school.
Hmmmmm.... we might be on to something! Where's that leave request form?
