In case you're near a Metro train on Thanksgiving or the day after...
Metro will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, from 7 a.m. to midnight, and will open one hour early at 4 a.m. on Friday, November 28, in anticipation of "Black Friday," traditionally one of the busiest shopping days of the holiday season.
On Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, Nov. 27), all Metrorail trains will operate with four cars. Thanksgiving Day ridership is traditionally extremely light, as last year about 103,000 people rode the Metrorail system compared to an average weekday ridership of 750,000. On Thanksgiving night, the Washington Wizards will play at the Verizon Center at 8 p.m. After the game, Metro will run six-car trains if crowds warrant.
