St. Patrick's Day is upon us and the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is reminding residents to designate a sober driver or call for a ride home if you choose to celebrate with alcohol.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office will have additional deputies conducting roving patrols throughout the county tonight, Thursday, March 17 and are asking drivers to make plans ahead of time.
"Before you go out to celebrate on St. Patrick's Day, designate a sober driver or call SoberRide at 1-800-200-TAXI for a free taxi ride provided by the Washington Regional Alcohol Program," said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman. "Be responsible or risk a DUI," Chapman added.
The SoberRide program is available in Eastern Loudoun County.
Additionally, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia State Police will hold a sobriety checkpoint tomorrow, Friday, March 18, beginning at 10 p.m. Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Auxiliary Unit and volunteers from the Loudoun Chapter of MADD will assist with the sobriety checkpoint.
