Today, Loudoun County officials celebrated the start of construction of a missing link of Mooreview Parkway, which will serve as an important connection for the community.
The new road segment, located between Croson Lane and Old Ryan Road, will provide access to Moorefield Station Elementary School as well as to the future Moorefield Community Park and the future Ashburn Silver Line Metrorail Station.
Members of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors were among those on hand today, Tuesday, April 18, for a ceremonial groundbreaking, marking the start of construction of a four-lane, median-divided roadway that will have a shared use path on one side of the road and a sidewalk on the other.
The total cost of the project, which is expected to be completed in the spring of 2018, is $9.6 million. In January, the county awarded a contract for construction of the road to William A. Hazel, Inc. for $4.3 million.
