Part of Gloucester Parkway at Belmont Ridge Road Closed May 19-22

Loudoun County officials reminder motorists of an upcoming planned closure of a section of Gloucester Parkway at Belmont Ridge Road.

The Gloucester Parkway weekend closure is set to begin Friday, May 19, at 9 p.m. and is expected to last until 5 a.m. Monday, May 22.  During that time, construction activity will be conducted in 12-hour shifts night and day until the work required to connect Gloucester Parkway to the future southbound lanes of Belmont Ridge Road is completed.

The Gloucester Parkway closure will extend from Belmont Ridge Road east to Alexandra's Grove Drive and Tournament Parkway. Detours will be set up to maintain traffic north and south of Gloucester Parkway allowing traffic intended to access Belmont Ridge Road from westbound Gloucester Parkway or traffic intended to access Gloucester Parkway eastbound from Belmont Ridge Road to circumvent the road closure.

The closure is necessary to shift traffic onto the future southbound lanes of Belmont Ridge Road and connect Gloucester Parkway to the new temporary traffic pattern. The work is related to the Route 7-Route 659 (Belmont Ridge Road) interchange construction.

Loudoun County officials encourage the traveling public to avoid the area during the weekend construction activity.

A map of the detour routes as well as more information about the Route 7/659 interchange project can be found at www.loudoun.gov/route7-659.
